Team Nijhof

2009 was a very successful year for the breeding of Dutch sport horses. The trademark of breeding success is accomplished by working together. The KWPN studbook, the breeders, the riders, the brood mare owners and Team Nijhof are all necessary for each other and together we make each other both strong and successful.

The KWPN was once again the leading producer of showjumpers, but this year our studbook was also on the top of the breeding index of International Dressage Horses. Not only very good news for our studbook but also a wonderful performance from our breeders. Our most successful breeders are publicised in the spotlights of the Nijhof's Journal. You can see not only the new predicate mares of 2009 but also the breeding products that became internationally successful in 2009. Hat's off to these breeders that are the pillars' supporting our Studbook and practically demonstrate what a stringent selection can deliver.

If you look carefully at the hundreds of successful breeding horses then two things will catch your eyes. It well worthwhile to breed with a good, worthwhile mare line and these are plentiful. The second conclusion is that a good, proven stallion can only lead to progress ional quality. Team Nijhof is very proud of the fact that they have been able to offer the ´stamping stallions´ such as Voltaire, Burggraaf and Calvados for so many years. We are even more proud that we can continue these lines with Concorde, who is currently number seven on the WBFSH list for showjumping progenitors, in combination with Heartbreaker, Clinton and Lord Z who also stand very high on the World Ranking lists.

Once again in 2010 we can offer you a super collection of stallions with a lot of variation in bloodlines. It is a mixture of proven stallions and up and coming stars out of proven damlines. We find it enormously important that the stallions prove themselves in the sport. With our own stallions they must also show their worth, whatever genes they possess themselves can also be passed on to their offspring. Everything is hereditary, especially their performance in the ring.

Together, stallion keepers and mare owners form a strong bond. We have each other necessary to create a new generation of good and healthy sporting horses that can perform at the highest level. We have to walk hand in hand to maintain the highest position in the ranking list of the World Breeding Federation for Sporting Horses. There is no better way for the safety of the future than to remain at No. 1.
